Four Run for Women’s Cross Country Team at Cardinal Classic

Four members of CSM's women's cross country team ran at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic University on September 14.

Brittney Douglas posted the fastest time of the four Hawks, completing the women's 6K race in 28:30.4. CSM head coach Ken Killion said her time was the third best performance in school history, and "she made up for last week's DNF in fine fashion."

Sierra Walker was the second Hawk to cross the finish line, submitting a time of 29:35.1. Killion said Walker "ran a steady race from the start."

Briana Douglas, the younger twin of Brittney Douglas, ran her first race of the season in 31:45.8. "Her performance was commendable," Killion said.

Gabrielle Wilson rounded out CSM's day, submitting a time of 36:46.5, 25 seconds faster than her Week 1 time at the Shannon Henretty Invitational. Killion added that Wilson and the rest of her teammates ran their times on a course that he thought was more difficult than their Week 1 meet location.

"This gives them knowledge of what it is like to compete on the collegiate level," Killion said.

CSM's next meet is the Hornet Harrier hosted by Shenandoah University on September 28 in Winchester, Virginia.
