Men’s Cross Country Continues Solid Season at Goucher Classic
Freshmen Nathan Maldonado-Munoz and Brandon Harty submitted more solid times for their season, competing at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic on October 5 in Baltimore, Md.
Maldonado-Munoz nearly beat out his teammate Harty by a few seconds in the men's 8K race, crossing the line in 35:55.71. Harty was right behind him, running the race in 35:58.90.
"Harty was very aggressive from the start of the race," CSM head coach Ken Killion said. "He was in eighth place for a good portion of the race, until he hit the hill about two-thirds of the way through. He started to drop back at that point, and Nate, who was about 75 seconds behind Brandon, was able to catch and pass his teammate. The course is very tough for the men because of the loop with the hill, and it showed in all of the competitors."
Maldonado-Munoz and Harty finished 13th and 14th, respectively, out of 22 runners in the men's field.
