Hawks Run in Cardinal Classic

Nathan Maldonado-Munoz improved his time from Week 1 by nearly two and a half minutes in the second meet of the season for the men's cross country team at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Catholic University on September 14.

Maldonado-Munoz ran a time of 34:28.5 in the men's 8K race, while Brandon Harty posted a time of 35:25.9.

CSM head coach Ken Killion said Harty dealt with some lower body discomfort toward the end of the race. Still, he managed to finish about 15 seconds slower than his time last week at the Shannon Henretty Invitational.

Killion said, "Instead of going out with the leaders like last week, Maldonado-Munoz ran a much smarter race by holding back in the first mile, and it showed in his time with the drop of almost two and a half minutes. Harty was right with Nate until the last loop when his ankle and calf started to bother him. He still was only around 15 seconds off of what he did last week."

CSM's next meet is the Hornet Harrier hosted by Shenandoah University on September 28 in Winchester, Virginia.
