Hawks Drop First Two Games of Season

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's soccer team is 0-2-0 after their first two games of their season.

CSM lost 6-1 to the Harcum College Bears on Friday, Aug. 18, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, then lost 5-2 to the CCBC Essex Knights on Tuesday, Aug. 22, in La Plata, Maryland.

Freshman forward Eliass Elfasoukhi scored for the Hawks against Harcum on a free kick in the 55th minute.

CSM gave up three goals to the Bears in each half. Freshmen goalkeepers John Miller and Wyatt Hixson saw action in goal, with Miller recording six saves and Hixson making seven. Both played one half each.

Elfasoukhi finished the night with five shots, sophomore forward Nomen Felix Mbia Sampson registered four, freshman defender Bryce Wilcher took two, and freshman midfielder Bilal Driouich and freshman defender CJ Brady each had one.

CSM found themselves down 4-0 at halftime against CCBC Essex on Tuesday. The Knights scored in the 10th, 18th, 24th, and 36th minutes.

The Hawks broke the shutout in the 58th minute when Mbia Sampson converted on a penalty kick to make the score 4-1. CCBC Essex added their final goal in the 70th minute.

Brady scored CSM's second goal in the 79th minute on a knuckling shot taken near midfield that was set up off a free kick tap pass from Driouich.

Freshman goalkeeper Baptists Berthozat started his first game in goal for CSM, playing all 90 minutes and making three saves.
