Men’s Soccer Ties Cecil College Seahawks

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's soccer team tied the Cecil College Seahawks 3-3 on October 4 in La Plata, Maryland.

Freshman forward Chad Farr continues to climb up the goals scored leaderboard as he added two more to his season count - which now stands at 11 - with Tuesday's performance. Sophomore forward Oscar Perez is doing his best to keep pace with Farr as he scored his seventh goal on the season.

CSM got out in front of Cecil 1-0 in the 13th minute when Perez fought his way past a Seahawk defender and beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway.

Farr would then extend CSM's early lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute on a penalty kick after sophomore defender Estid Reedy was dragged down in the box by a Seahawk.

The momentum shifted in Cecil's direction the rest of the first half and into the second half. Constant pressure by the Seahawks proved costly for CSM as Cecil scored three unanswered goals to put the Hawks behind 3-2 by the 66th minute.

Cecil did well to keep CSM's attack at bay until the final moments of regulation. Farr found his way to the front of the Cecil goal, dribbling through defenders and lifting his shot over the goalkeeper's head to tie the game 3-3 with five seconds remaining on the clock.

CSM played with renewed energy in overtime. They were aggressive with their attack, peppering several shots on the cage that came within inches of sending the Hawks home victorious. They could not, however, find the elusive golden goal and ended the game in a tie.

Freshman goalkeeper Sebastian Leon-Ramos played well, making several athletic saves throughout the game, ending the night with nine.

CSM's now stands at 4-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Region 20 Division II.
