Weekly Recap: Women Win & Men Fall at Frederick

LA PLATA, Md. - The College of Southern Maryland athletics program split its lone twin-bill of Thanksgiving week with both basketball teams battling the Cougars in Frederick.

 

Men's Basketball:

 

  • Results
    • Monday, November 24
      • Loss at Frederick
        • 94-87

 

  • Top Performers
    • Shamir Taylor lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 28 points on 8-of-19 (42.1%) and 4-for-8 (50%) from downtown while tying Kacee Hewitt, Stephon Coleau and Kyle Jackson for the most steals at three.
    • Both Hewitt and Coleau shared the second in scoring command title with 19 apiece whereas the former led the team in assists (4).
    • Jackson wore the rebounding crown by wrestling away eight boards and James Hans hit a double-digit point total too (10).

Women's Basketball:

  • Top Performers
    • Amoni Taylor might have outdid herself this time, scoring 35 of the Hawks' 65 points (53.8%), going 15-for-28 (53.6%) while collecting five boards and a pair of steals.
    • Demi Lathern contributed 17 points as the duo was accountable for 80% of the offensive production while Lathern tallied a double-double thanks to 11 rebounds.
    • Rebounding was Sanaa Morrow's specialty, snatching a game-best 13 as well as four assists.
