Weekly Recap: Soccer’s Sweep of Frederick Salvages Week

LA PLATA, Md. – The College of Southern Maryland athletics program could muster just a pair of victories as well as a tie from September 22-27, cobbling together an overall mark of 2-3-1 (41.7%) between the three fall sports.

 

Volleyball: 

 

  • Results

  • Top Performers (Richard Bland Only)
    • Amelie Lancioni cobbled together her fourth straight double-double and sixth over the last seven matches, leading the Hawks in both assists (16, 5.33 p/s) and digs (4.00 p/s) while cashing in one of the club's two service aces.
    • The offense ran through the arm of Lelia Iafeta opposite the 16th-rnaked Statesmen, smashing 13 (4.33 p/s) of CSM's 25 kills (52%) to go along with helping defensively by digging up six (2.00 p/s) would-be points.
    • Deanna Kalkbrenner was the second in command on the attack, providing eight kills (2.67 p/s) and Coach Sanders' squad's lone block.

  • Top Performers
    • Matthew Knapp was one of three Hawks to have their shot find the back of the net, doing so courtesy of a team-high six shots and four being on target (66.7 SOG%).
    • The second of the trio was Aydyn Meaders, tying his teammate for the shots-on-goal lead (4) while falling one shot off the pace at five and putting the game away with his score against the Cougars.
    • The final of Coach Porovne's student-athletes to place a pair of points into the stat sheet was Shamar McKen in Cumberland at Allegany.
    • Fondjo Ulrich Kamyou and Josky Densie were the setup men for two of the three non-own goals whereas Brandon Rollins saved 80% of the shot attempts sent in his direction for a 1.50 GAA, highlighted by a shutout of Frederick.

  • Top Performers
    • Raynna Ratchford recorded the squad's win between the pipes after spending the first half of the blowout victory directing the defense against Frederick.
    • The dynamic duo was the usual culprits of Sara Allwine and Abby May, combining for seven goals and four assists which amounted to 18 points between them.
    • Honorable mention goes to none other than Kiera Salazar, who went for a pair of goals and assists each, with Zoey Lisbon-Browne putting a bow on the helper handouts with an assist herself.
    • Amber Jones was taking constant aim at the keepers, scoring twice over a dozen shots and half of those coming on-target.
    • Elyssa Guy was the last point scorer for Head Coach Richard Landis' 17th-ranked Southern Maryland Hawks, rocketing a shot past the gloves of the goalie.
