CSM Baseball Shines with All-Region 20 Honors

 

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks baseball team has made a significant impact in the NJCAA Region 20 this season, with standout performances earning All-Region honors.

Yunior Peña – First Team All-Region

Sophomore Shortstop Yunior Peña delivered an exceptional season, earning First Team All-Region 20 recognition. He finished the season with an impressive .418 batting average, amassing 59 hits, including 15 doubles and 11 home runs, while driving in 49 RBIs. His .773 OPS and .454 on-base percentage underscored his offensive prowess. Peña's versatility was also evident on the mound, contributing as a valuable asset out of the pen and on the field for the Hawks.

Mason McReynolds – Second Team All-Region

Freshman Mason McReynolds showcased his consistency at the plate, earning Second Team All-Region honors. He posted a .422 batting average with 43 hits, four home runs, and 32 RBIs. His .528 on-base percentage highlighted his ability to get on base and set the stage for his teammates. McReynolds' performance was a key factor in the Hawks' offensive success this season.

Henry Itani – Honorable Mention

Freshman Catcher and utility plater Henry Itani earned Honorable Mention recognition for his contributions both behind the plate and at the plate. He maintained a .359 batting average with 42 hits, 27 RBIs, and seven home runs, providing stability and leadership to the Hawks' lineup. Itani's defensive skills were equally commendable, ensuring the pitching staff had a reliable backstop throughout the season.

These accolades reflect the hard work and dedication of the CSM Hawks baseball team, highlighting the individual talents that have contributed to the team's competitive performance in NJCAA Region 20.
